waaayyyyy back in 2006! :D

I was going thru my photos uploaded on Flickr which has been inactive in months and thinking of consolidating my photos in one place and deleting one or two accounts and I found this shot in 2006 using a built in camera in a phone...

way way back in 2006, i felt a deep urge to take photos or maybe it was implanted on me to have that urge, even just candid ones, even just for "lomo" style shots i had no DLSR of my own, no digital camera of my own just a measly 3 year old Nokia 3210 so i upgraded to a Sony Ericsson K800i so that i could have both a functionality of a phone and MY own small camera to capture those moments. I love nature and the creations that i see around me, maybe that's why i ended up at taking landscape shots instead of portraits of people, but the thing is we all have one thing in common, we love to see and capture beauty, may it be portraits, macros and landscapes.

We don't need expensive gears to take breathtaking shots as proven by many hobbyist, aspiring, and great photographers lingering somewhere out there just waiting to take the shots they need to make... you just need the passion.

but of course, if somebody will throw me a D800 or a 5DMKIII / X, imma gonna grab it without hesitation :P

the cute girl in the photo waaaaayyy back in 2006 is Iana my "inaanak" (godchild), shes pretty grown up now and still shy to me and to other relatives :)

wow, its been months or years that ive written something this long, hahaha :P

and now to continue my quest to consolidate my photos :P

routinary + complacency are dangerous things

we all know practice makes perfect. we started at zero knowledge on something in a point in our lives, learning new stuffs as we acquire new things, the likes of learning how to bike without those additional two wheels at the back of the bike.... then progressing to riding the bike with no hands at all. a mentor of ours told us that he likes being uncomfortable in his work, it keeps him alert and at his toes, kept being challenged, challenge brings out the best out of him, challenged... brings out the hidden potential out of people, might be double edged sometimes, can be good and could turn out bad. at one point, we can and will experience a routinary loop for a while, when you think you know it all, all things around are easy, no challenge, no ripples in the water, thus being complacent.... and just one day.... disaster will strike, just because you think you know it all, you can predict anything that will happen and prevent it.... doesn't equate you having no problems to encounter, problems that can arise at that point and at that point you're dead center in the disaster zone. what I'm trying t point out is that, not to be complacent, not to be too over confident, just because you've been doing these thing for sometime now doesn't mean your not going to encounter problems along the way. my two cents, be alert at all times and not be complacent.. it can be the beginning and the end of something :D

just ranting out loud :P

on pain killers, but sometimes we need the pain to see if we're not still dreamin...

both my arms are still sore, today was a little bit ok than the other pain, but still its akward that i can eve properly eat with a spoon and fork during meals, cant put my favorite choker on my neck, having a hard time to put my glasses on, IT HURTS! what did i do you might ask, just an exercise program, it i think my arms did really take a toll, considering it was only day 1 at least i can still type comfortably to shout out my rants :-|, hope the pain killers take effect!. ANYHOW.... ill stop whining..... April's here, at least i dodge an april fools joke on first day of the month. also had a last ditch effort to experiment on my tokina UWA lens in IR, tried all possible equipment combinations that i have and that i can think of... and sad to say.... tokina on IR is an EPIC FAIL :-\ oh well, just have to do with what we have :D

photo above is a shot of Hotel de Ville in Paris during our short roadtrip to France :D

from wiki: The Hôtel de Ville (French pronunciation: [otɛl də vil], City Hall) in Paris, France, is the building housing the City of Paris's administration. Standing on the place de l'Hôtel de Ville (formerly the place de Grève) in the city's IVe arrondissement, it has been the location of the municipality of Paris since 1357. It serves multiple functions, housing the local administration, the Mayor of Paris (since 1977), and also serves as a venue for large receptions. The Mayor of Paris is Bertrand Delanoë, since 2001. He was reelected in 2007 for a second six-year term.
It is located near the metro station: Hôtel de Ville.

waiting

this shot was taken with a camera phone while in the metro of Paris, Etoile (e-twah-ley )station. :D

the weather seems to be wacked this days, as i was expecting it to be summer already, the climate change factor again cane into place, its raining! again? in march! kind of unusual to what we are accustomed in the past...

well, the week has been ok, sort of backing up the files ive accumulated in the past.... astonishingly... ive accumulated (with some of jpeg file albums copied from friends on trips and vacations) more than 80 GB of jpegs and RAW files since 2006 up to now! WOW! so it'll take 20 or more DVD's to back up these :-|, but, i dont mind :D, i love the hobby and it's whats keeping me sane and stress free :D

seriously now, i need to make time to EDIT THOSE TRIP PHOTOS..... @_@

Have a great week ahead!

6 elements of Mt. Pulag

Click This for a Larger View of the Photo

well, this is my first post of the year on this blog :D, the past 4 months, ive been really engaged in travelling to different places and using my gears, camera tools and hoping to hone my skills in taking good photographs... photographs of landscapes...

i still havent posted the past trips that we had, but i will have to post this first as this was a memorable and longest stay in the outdoors yet...

so our trip this past week was in Mt. Pulag, the summit of Mt. Pulag is 2,922 MASL, there were 14 of us in our journey to the summit. the weather was cooperative with our group not to mention that we were lucky than the other groups that have gone up the summit. we stayed in Camp 1 ( Babadak Ranger station on our first day ) after going to the breifing at DENR, the ride was rough, very rough... it was so rough that it was the first time i got a headache during rides. anyhow, we settled and make camp for the night at camp 1, it was raining that night, and our tent was having moisture control problems :D anyways, morning came, and i survived my first camping experince in a tent! wohoooo!!! hahaha :D

and so after eating a heavy breakfast, packed our things, got our strong porters, then we break camp and the long trek started, it was the longest trek i ever had, i think it was more than aprrox. 8 kms climb from camp 1 to camp 3 with no lunch stops in between, just rests and frequently munching cloud 9 and trail food, enjoying the view of Mt. Pulag and endless laughtrips and stories along the way.

so along the way to camp 3, we were greeted by climbers descending the mountain, and locals passing us by while we were trekking (newbie climber here :D) we passed by the mossy forest, then passed by the grasslands and alas! after several hours of trek, Camp 3!!! we settled our things, maked camp and got some rest... there was an optional sunset assualt, but due to bad lighting conditions, we just rested from the long trek we had :D

Fastforward to day 3 sunrise summit assault >> at the summit, it was FOGGYYYY!!!! :( anyhow, i did get some sunrise shot, but not that grand due to the fog... also, we did not get to see the sea of clouds at the summit due to the heavy fog, on the brighter side, we made it safe up to the summit and made it home safely also, and i survived my first Mountain Climb! hahaha :D and survived my first camping :D

The climb was a great experience for me, while descending Mt. Pulag, i was recording in my mind how granduer natures design was, i was thingking how few persons only see the beauty of that mountain, how one needs to slow down things in the busy stressful urban life, that you get to share these things and experience with friends and exchange exoerineces with them.

I salute our Team CL11 for conquering Mt. Pulag, and the fact that we were prepared to endure all that for the passion and the addiction to landscape photography :D

Till the next adventure guys and gals

Ingatz to all :D

PS. well... As for the 6 elements, its the grasslands, the mossy forest, the mountains you see, the sea of clouds, yourself, and your compainions during the climb :D (it's the 6 elements as per Me! :D have a nice Climb :D)

Year Ender notes for 2010

the days of the year 2010 are numbered, as we count down its just less than 2 days and 2010 will expire, but the memories of it will remain as usual hahaha :D

i remember, it was a slow start at the beginning of 2010, as recession was still crawling all over the region, but i think, we held on well, for us Filipinos and for most of my colleagues and friends, i think we did a pretty good job making it thru 2010, were resilient, what can i say more :D

for my side of the story... i started with a new company... again.. and the trend of my tenure in a company is getting shorter and shorter, hahaha, although my bosses that hired me migrated to another work... but that's ok :) got to meet new friends at work, expand my network, also met new early waking late sleeping addiktus laugthtripping trek and nature loving and adventurous landscape photographer buddies (you know who you are! ) nice to have met and shoot/shot with you guys, got to discover new places in EU for a span of two weeks namely Brugge, Belgium, Paris, Amsterdam, Ghent (still backlogged on PP'ing photos for this EU trip) of course never forget the Crashing waves at Aurora and the amazing sunrise we had in Quezon!.... hope we can keep this up guys! :D good to see also good friends tied the knot! and having little versions of themselves :D... to cut the story short... all is good in 2010 at least for me, i do also hope you had a good 2010 year to.

i would like to propose a toast...

for the Man Above that always provides (Thank You!)
for a good year to come
for the new friends that well meet
for the hardships that we'll overcome
for the new places that well discover
for the increase in our salaries that we'll recieve (hopefully....)
for the new opportunities that we'll have
for the memories that we'll create
and for a Great 2011

KAMPAI!!!!! :D

*drinks bottled water in office* :P

Happy New Year!!! :D

I'm Having good vibes for this coming 2011 :D

Euro Trip: Part 2 Ghent, Belgium

Click to View High Res Image Link for Pano Shot Above :D

well, lets continue the misadventures that happened during our trip, lets go to Ghent! :D

ok t'was a cloudy afternoon when we went to Ghent, i was expecting the whole day to be sunny but as we went there thru train, we can see scattered dark rain clouds in the horizon towards our destination :(... oh well, lets just make the most of the trip :D

Link on Album in Facebook

after exiting the train station, we took the local tram, which was operated by de lijn, dropped off near Veldstraat st. and just wandered around, it was noon time, so we headed for a local sandwich shop for our lunch. There's a lot of Architecture you can see in Ghent, old buildings, facades, old beautiful churches and a castle, and some choclate shops too :P it was drizzling that afternoon as we have assumed it to be, clouds were gray all of a sudden as we were wandering around Ghent.

The main landmark in Ghent is the Graslei and Korenlei, they are the two main quays in Ghent, they say in the olden times, the houses and buildings that can be found in those quays are used for trading. Boat rides nowadays can take you along the canal.. but we did not try one. on the food trip side, we tried the Amadeus restaurant in the Patershol near the Gravensteen ( which was also know as the castle of the counts ) which serves eat all you can Ribs! after two full slabs i think.. i refused the third offerings of more ribs of the waiter :D also tried a local pub there... forgot the name, but it located near the underground parking in the Center of Ghent, we tried the large humongous glass of Kwak beer, and before you can try it, you must give them 1 of your shoes that they will hang it somewhere so that you will not run off with their special large glass of theirs. :D

another first experince in Ghent is the hail.. it hailed and we took cover under st Michaels bridge Graslei side, the hail was twice as large a a rock salt :D

Ghent's a great city,.. lots of history in it... you can actually wander around the and cover the whole city within a day... Anda colleuge of ours showed that Ghent is ranked number 7 in the lonely planets best cities for 2010 :D lucky me! :D

Europe 2010 Trip, or side Trips :P

Side Trip Part 1: Oudenaarde

Link on Album in Facebook

This will be a five part recap on the what i have experienced in the 5 cities or towns ( please correct me if im wrong ) we've stepped our foot on the European continent. First will be Oudenaarde, then Ghent, then Brugge, then Amsterdam and Lastly.. my Favorite... Paris! :D

My Stay in the European continent lasted for 14 days, with the gracious blessings from the Man Above and with the help of my counterparts on Calamba plant and Belgian colleagues, I was set off to Belgium! Wohooooo!!!

To be honest, when i heard of the news that i was selected to be trained in Belgium for a Tester training, i quickly researched on the places that i can go quickly experience, who would not be excited? its a chance of a lifetime to go Europe, and when you're at Europe, you can easily access all places by land or by air in just less than 5 hours :D and also as they say also in Belguim... everything in Belgium is within 45 Mins.. you want to go to Brussels... 45 mins.. you want to go to Ghent... 45 mins *lol* :D

So first on the list.. Oudenaarde! There's a ON Semi site in Belgium, a Fab house also.. i think, which houses 4 inch wafers to my knowledge. Our Training will be held there in the plant. Our HQ for two week, and Base for our trips, hahaha! :D

Here it goes!.... Oudenaarde

When we arrived at AMS Schiphol (ishkiphol) airport, i already felt the cold weather *brrrrrrr* 2 weeks this cold.. i said to my self. then we Hopped on the Plane (btw, im with two pinoy collegues Natz and Agot) to Brussels where a taxi would pick us up to drive us to the hotel in Oudenaarde. The Hotel room was cozy, just enough amenities to survive the stay, a heater, three lamps, a Big Bed, TV, minibar, Toilet/Bathroom :D ( weird thing there was no light bulb in the ceiling ) anyhow... i slept hoping that it would be a sunny day the next morning....

viola... wish granted! sunny morning indeed.... took breakfast at the hotel, with 4-5 kinds of diffent breads like in the French Baker's stalls back here in our country then we headed out....
Link on Album in Facebook

It's Sunday... its like a ghost town... not much people on the streets, maybe they're out on vacation :P The food is great here... we ate Rabbit meat cooked in local Oudenaarde beer, also tried the Deer meat, good food... of course... kind of a little expensive, but it's the only restos we can find open during our stay, they have big servings on every plate in tandem with mashed potatoes or fried fries... their fries here are not oily, maybe a different kind of oil they use here... so i think fries to eat here in Belgium are healthy... i found also the stroopwaffels that i was looking for... its a 2 belgian waffle that has a syrup ( honey or caramel) squeezed in the middle of the 2 waffles. Local bakeries here are like French Baker stalls in malls, wooow..... and they sell a huge amount of assorted breads! with matching chocolates:D... stores here closes as early as 4 pm except for restos that provide dinner and pubs... Also Tried the Beers here and it tastes far more better than he local beers we have back here in our country. Every beer here in Belgium has it's own special glass to go with the beer, and take note... they have more than 350 different kinds of Beers!!

Bike lanes are every where, a lots of roundabouts... and confusing intersection traffic lights ( confusing for me :P )!, strict road rules are followed or else youll be heavily fined... , if you flash your headlights here, it means you'll give way to the other car, they dont use their car horns very often... if somebody use their car horn on you, it means they are very mad, maybe youve broken a traffic rule or you did not give way to them in the road... , there are no gasoline boys to fill up your gas tanks, so i tried filling up our rental car during our stay, hehehe. They take care of their history very well, they preserve and restore their buildings even their city hall or Staduis as they call it is very well restored when you see it in the outside.

overall, Oudenaarde is a beautiful town, lots of history in it, great architecture and of course the most important thing of all.. Great company... Great Food and Great BEERS!!!! CHEERS! :D

hello mr. sun :D

its been a while since i updated this blog :D, kahit papaano, malagyan ko naman ng june post tong blog na ito :D what has happend this june?... well it has'nt happend yet but it's sure that we'll have a NoyBi government.. oh well..., let's give this new government a chance, who knows, maybe it will be a start of a big change :D

anyhow... when i wake up in sunny mornings, i could'nt help but smile .. squinting facing the sun (with the "muta" and everything :P), morning person... maybe..., masarap matulog, who doesnt like sleep, it recharges us from a days work, refreshes us to battle another day, pero sana.. dont over do it, baka di na tayu magising, :P (*knock on wood* joke lang :D). Thanking for another sunny morning that we sometimes ignore... :D

this month, was kinda slow in a way....even my blog reflects it as this has only one entry for june... pero i dont mind things being slow, sometimes, being slow will let you appreciate more the things that revolves around your life and show you things that you've left behind while living in this fast paced life that were in. It can show you things that you left while we're scramming to get to the days material goal.

what i'm pointing out is take time for the much important things in life...... simple yet confusing, even i am confused sometimes on whats really material and immaterial, not because your satisfied will equate to your happiness.

did i even make sense? :P

waiting for the bus

interestingly.... google did not just put a modified enhanced googelized picture of pacman for its 30th birthday celebration... they googelized the map of the pacman game! hehehe ala lang, nakulitan lang ako... since nintendo days pa yung last time kong nakapag laro ng pacman, kasama ng mga battle city, galaga at ice climber!!! hahaha :D, anyhow, i think kinalawang na yung pacman skills ko nung nilaro ko yung googelized version, hahaha :P

also.. race results came up on the greenfield sunset run :P as expected.. my split time for a 5K run is around 40 minutes.. what i did not expect was to finish the 10K at 1 hour and 12 minutes plus 2 seconds! :D... at least now, i have a baseline for my future runs... but not sure yet when it will be again...rest muna =/

the weekend was also great! went with good friends to tagaytay for a breakfast food trip, food was good... nahirapan lang ako mamili ng breakfast... sobrang dami kase ng pagpipilian...sa susunod mag wawaffles ako, nyahahaha :D and yung pasalubong ko eh pinapak ng mga utol di man lang ako tinirahan, hahaha :D, one thing i also noticed was... it's not that cold in tagaytay yesterday.. considering its a morning, im expecting a colder breeze than what we have in manila.. but then again... i was dead wrong... but at least its a degree or so cooler compared to manila, or not.. :P

picture with a plane above was captured while "waiting for the bus" along the toll gates :D yep... it's an eheads song.... "...ultraviolet rays like i'm posing for a shot in a magazine... what the hell does it meeeannn?..." actually waiting for the shuttle papuntang office, hehehe, but when i saw the plane... naisip ko tuloy na patapos na ang bakasyon, hinde paren ako nakakahirit ng excursion, hahaha :P

shadow play

okay... election fever is almost over, wheeew! we know who will our next president starting this year 2010 and for the next 6 years onwards, ( although i did not vote for him, i respect the majority of the votes casted by our countrymen ) and hopefully everything will turn out fine for all of us *help! please!!!!* we get the officials we deserve... haayyyzzzzz....

enough of poor politics here... i've been banned! from running... for atleast a month, doc says i lack stretching, and it turned out to be not as bad as i think *i hope*.. oh well, recover muna, then will be back right at business next month, nyahahaha :P

also, my office laptop has been resurrected, *wohoooo!!!* ... after taking a bath from a half of glass of water in the keyboard area 3 days ago, hehehe, anyhow, it's alive again ang kickin! but i.t. personnel told me that they will still replace the mother board because of some corrosion issue that might happen over time, thanks mr i.t. personnel, *forgot your name sorry :D*

photo above is caught by my phone last week... photo is entitled as "shadow play" :D, na astigan lang ako nung nakita ko how the light played behind the clouds during the sunset, also saw the sunset at a high place that day, sobrang golden! a must see, kaso did not capture it as i was driving along alabang overpass :p... nainggit tuloy ako bigla dun sa mga nakatambay sa manila bay, must have been one awesome sight!

bigla tuloy akong natakam kumain.. si tonipet talaga oh!.. taRaLetsEat! binondo food tip! :D *droooollllllll* :-9

loaded as expected

*swoon album (silversun pickups) plays in the background*

First things first... my congratulations again to my friends eric and sockie for having Kandace (their first born child) kahit medyo late ang greetings, better late than never :D. We (with STE pips) attended Kandace baptismal at Batangas last Satuday Morning. Good to see you guys again :D

Also raced that Saturday afternoon at Sta. Rosa, Greenfields Area ( sunset run ) with Mike and Stell and some usual faces in my previous company. The race felt good, i registered on the 10K category. although it's considered as my first official race, ive been running just around our village for more than a year now, so i did not hesitate to register on that category. On the other hand, 2 weeks before the race, i slightly hesistated on the 10K route, because of my slight injury, that the 10K route would aggravate the injury, i even thought and planned on mingling with the 5K race route even but mike said their bib color was different :D so i was stuck to eat my fried chicken on the 10K route haha :D

So there i was... a newbie! on fun run / races, i ran on my usual slow pace that i always used in our village.. no pressure.. i just wanted to finish the 10K without additional injuries. funny thing was, on the first water station... i was expecting a cup of water to be handed to me.. so i passed the fisrt table and the volunteer handed out a blue square sponge *anong gagawin ko dito sa sponge na to? iinom sa sponge?* so i placed the sponge on the table and then saw the pile of water cups and grabbed one... (saka ko na lang na realize na para sa mga pang-basa pala nila ng ulo yata yun or something... hahaha :D )

Cons of the event and the day itself.... the traffic... a heavy... stagnant at nakakagutom na traffic, very weird traffic situation that day! and after the run, we went to tagaytay for dinner and coffee and arrived at home past 2 in the morning :D, its been months since i went to tagaytay, the area has evolved alot! gone are the amkor days that it was just a sprint getway on summer to get to tagaytay for coffee :D

so the goal for the next races.... to finish a race having a pace of 6 mins and 30 secs per km... *gimme 3 months, nyayhahaha.. i hope* :D

*demmnnn... i miss Vigan!!!!*

'till it bleeds.... my fingers that is... :P

well... got the new acoustic guitar that i was aiming for!!! wohoooo! thanks to shoq for helping in findin a new one, as to those who have not known what the hell happened to my old blue slim twisted one,... it died... on a suicide mission from the top of our cabinet years years ago, t'was a gift form my dad... :( ... anyhow, got a replacement for it now :D, had fun "breakin' in" the new strings, seems that my calluses are startin to buildup again :D (*mukhang magtatampo muna yung bass hehehe*)

anyhow... still a week to go till the race, and hoping i can finish the run in less than a hour and a half... hehehe, bahala na... slightly trimmed down my runs due to a kinda slight mishap! i hope i wont happen again :P, hoping for the best for next sunday,

as for the calluses in my shutter finger.... am awaiting the filters, yey!!!! an ndx400 and an nd8, sadly, i finally gave in to a decision to fully utilize my uwa (tokina) first before buyin a 12-24 nikkor... or until i get the funds right, haha :D... one drawback will be, ill be stuck up to 18mm only when shooting Near IR, (as ill be using a kit lens for this one)'coz we all know, tokina has a bad reputation for hotspots... oh well, technique first before gears :D

photo above (entitled "shattered") is a shot of a clay pot that my cousin broke in a game they played in batangas. :D

simple joys of life

well.... Keng (the youngest of us four) graduated last friday that was held at SMX, along with the other 200 plus nursing students of RTMS Makati Medical Center... Congrats Again! Although I (accompanied with my two siblinbgs) did not watch the whole graduation rites, just my mom and dad watched it from the mass all thru out the end hehehe... nanood kase kami ng Clash of the Titans sa MOA, humabol nalang kase sa marching rites ng mga graduates, nyahaha :D...

yung Clash... ok lang na mapanood kahit hinde 3D, opinion ko lang... parang may konting flaw kase... the whole world is not Argos only... so bakit kailangang mang-hina agad ni Zeus... ooopppssss spolier alert, hahaha :D. but the movie is quite entertaining as a whole :D

also got see UpDharmaDown that night! but what kept me up until the UdD set is the front acts, hanep! from the fast to faster sets of shuriken... at lalu na yung drummer ng wagyu, hehehe, mukhang malayu pa mararating ng batang yun.

photo above is a shot of my "pamangkin" caught him playin with his balloon, hehe... simple joys is all we need to make us happy, need not to be fancy complicated stuff that makes our head hurt everytime... :D
